At Udemy, we work to provide more tools to enhance instructor account security, and are happy to let you know that multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be available for instructors in the upcoming weeks. Many instructors have asked us for this second layer of protection and we’re excited to provide this additional security feature.

Please note that MFA will be utilizing your Udemy account email, therefore, in preparation for this security update, please double check that it is correct and active. Refer to this article for more information on how to change your email address if necessary.

What is multi-factor authentication (MFA) and why is it important?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security feature that helps protect instructors’ Udemy accounts in addition to their passwords. When enabled, every time you log into your Udemy account from a new browser or device, such as a computer, phone, or tablet, you will sign in with 2 pieces of information: your password and a verification code sent to your email. This authentication method helps prevent fraud and provides more protection to your account.

Which accounts have MFA enabled?

For instructors who have published courses or have a stored payout method, we will be automatically turning on MFA for your accounts in the next few weeks to align with our company’s security and fraud-prevention protocols. An email coming from [email protected] will be sent ahead of time letting you know that MFA will be enabled for your account in the upcoming days.

All instructors will be able to enable MFA in their account in the next few weeks.

How do I turn on MFA for my Udemy account?

  1. Navigate to your Account Security tab from your Account page
  2. Scroll down and click the “Enable MFA” button.
  3. Once MFA is enabled, you will be logged out and have to login again using your password and verification code that will be emailed to you.
