How to: Promote your Udemy course on Facebook with just $7

Have $7? That’s all you need to promote your next Udemy course on Facebook.

Facebook recently released the ability for anyone with less than 5,000 friends and subscribers to promote their Facebook status updates on their personal profile pages.

That means whenever you update your status on your personal profile page, you now have the option to pay $7 to have your update appear towards the top of your friends’ newsfeeds.

Once you post your Facebook status update, you will see an option to “Promote.” Once you click that, you will see a prompt to make a payment. The current price is $7, but it may change in the future as Facebook continues its testing.

This is a great opportunity for you to enlist the help of your Facebook friends to enroll in or share the gospel of your Udemy course(s).

What are the best ways to get the most bang for your seven bucks? Here are some ideas:

  • Write a sincere message, in your own words, asking for your friends’ help to spread the word about your course. Here’s an example: I get a lot of questions about how I became a knitting comedian, so I created a course to show people how I did it. Click “Share” to help me spread the word about Knitting for Comedians! • Include a call to action in your status update. For instance, ask friends to “Like” or “Share” to help you spread the word.
  • Use an appropriate but attention-getting graphic in your status update so it stands out in the feed. See example below.

Now it’s your turn—give it a try! With the ability to create a Facebook Offer for your business page and the ability to promote your status updates on your personal profile page, you can really dominate Facebook this week with course promotion.

Have fun experimenting with this, and let us know if you see any immediate success that you’d like to share with the instructor community!
