LinkedIn: LinkedIn is a great resource for promoting your course and acquiring your first students. You can achieve this by sending a personal email to your LinkedIn contacts announcing your course.
Follow the steps below to export your LinkedIn contacts. If you’ve already exported your contacts, skip ahead to the announcement templates below.
EXPORT YOUR LINKEDIN CONTACTS:
Log into your LinkedIn profile
Click the “My Network” icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage
Click “Your connections” on the left rail
Click “Manage synced and imported contacts” near the top right of the page.
Under “Advanced actions” on the right rail, click “Export contacts”. (You may be prompted to sign into your account).
Click “Request Archive”
You will receive an email to your Primary Email address which will include a link where you can download your list of connections.
Open the CSV file in Excel, and remove all irrelevant contacts from your list.
Your goal is to email a segment of your LinkedIn contacts about your course. If you’re like many users, you’ve accumulated 500+ contacts over several years. The last thing you need is to spam all of your contacts. Make sure there’s no one on your list who would take offense to receiving an email from you.
Import your selected contacts into your email provider (AWeber, MailChimp, etc.)
If you aren’t using an email service, then you can send emails using Mail Merge in Gmail.
Send an email to your contacts announcing your course and invite them to take it.
Now that you’ve condensed your list of LinkedIn contacts, you can make your email very personal. Here are two examples—one more serious and one more casual:
How are you? I published my [insert course title] course on an online learning site called Udemy. In the course, I was able to take a deep dive into how customer data collection is now shaping the way we design marketing channels and campaigns. So far, I’ve had over 100 people enroll. There’s also a mobile app for my course included, so many of the people in my course are learning on the go.
Take a minute to view my course trailer video here [link to your course with your instructor coupon code] and see if it’s something you’d like to take in your free time. You can use that same link to get a 20% discount on the course if you’re ready to dive in. And of course, feel free to share with colleagues via email, LinkedIn, and Facebook because I’d like to reach as many people with this as possible. Hope this is helpful for you.
How’s it going? I published my Art of Karaoke Singing course on an online learning site called Udemy. In the course, I was able to nerd out on my love for karaoke, and so far I’ve had over 100 people enroll to learn from me! The site makes it really easy and fun to learn new things, and there’s even a mobile app for my course, so you can watch it on the go.
Definitely take a minute and check out my course trailer video here <link to your course with your instructor coupon code> and see if you think it’s something you’d want to take in your free time. You can use that same link to get a 20% discount on the course if you’re ready to dive in. And of course, feel free to share with your friends who would be excited about a lesson in karaoke. Hope you like it!
That’s it! Good luck enrolling your LinkedIn contacts into your course!
