News & Updates

Course Creation Journey

As a new instructor, you’re probably wondering what the course creation journey on Udemy looks like! This 30-day timeline gives a broad overview of how you should approach building your first course. And this lecture creation timeline outlines the steps you can take when planning and filming each individual lecture (Note that after your first lecture, you can usually speed up the process!)

Udemy Local Meetups

Udemy instructors have organized local meetups in a number of cities around the world. Are you interested in meeting Udemy colleagues in your area? Do you want to take on the role of community builder? Organizing a Udemy Local event is a fun and rewarding endeavor: you’ll be orchestrating personal and professional connections within an incredibly accomplished group of diverse individuals. Please go here to read more about the Udemy Local program and apply to become an organizer.

Student Story

As an instructor, you impact the lives of hundreds if not thousands of students around the globe – students who are embarking on a new career, developing a much needed skill, or fulfilling a life-long aspiration. Meet Michael Connell! After taking The Art of Black and White Photography on Udemy, Michael started applying new techniques and ultimately developed a whole new approach to his photography work. Go here to see a few of Michael’s inspiring photos.

In the Community

As an instructor on Udemy, you only have about 7 minutes to hook students and convince them to commit to your first course. This means the first few lectures of your course are crucial! We’ve challenged new instructors in the Udemy Studio to create a stellar first section to their first course following our newly published Start Chart. Here’s how you can join the fun:

  1. Use the Start Chart to plan and build the first section of your course.
  2. Post all three of your Start Chart lectures in the Studio by August 18 for feedback from the community, using the hashtag #StartChart. To share, upload your video as a test video, to YouTube, or directly to the Facebook group.
  3. New instructors who meet the deadline will be eligible to win a one-on-one course coaching call with the Udemy Instructor Team! We’ll be evaluating the videos on how successfully they inspire, activate, and reward students.

We’re looking forward to seeing your lectures!
