New Student Review System Announced

Last week we announced a new Student Review System! Reviews can be incredibly valuable to students when deciding what course to purchase, but this requires that reviews be authentic and trustworthy. We’re making some major updates to the system to increase the overall volume of reviews, decrease instances of fraudulent reviews, and better help students use reviews to differentiate between courses. We’ve listed a few key highlights but be sure to check out the full blog post here.

  • Review dashboard where you can aggregate and filter your reviews across courses
  • Instructor feature to publicly respond to reviews
  • In-course prompts for the student to review the course
  • More robust spam review filter
  • 5-star scale but students can now choose half stars ratings

The new system will go live in the next few weeks, and we’re happy to answer any questions you have in the interim. You can find an FAQ at the bottom of this article, and you can also ask questions or share your feedback by writing to instructorsupport@udemy.com. Finally, after the system goes live, there will be an Ask Me Anything in the Udemy Studio with key players from this project – stay tuned for more details soon!

Course-Taking Beta Test

We’re expanding our beta test for the revamped student course-taking experience. In the next few weeks, the beta will be rolled out to all courses on Udemy (although only some students will see the test experience for now). Note that students included in the beta still have the option to opt out and return to the old experience.

Updating Instructor Records

We’re updating records for our Premium Instructor community and we’d love to get your phone number on file. We’ll use this for important communications about your account, and to help expedite our response time for Community and Policy communications. We will keep your information 100% confidential!
