New Support Center
We’ve just launched a new Support Center! The new center includes a redesign of every page, updates to many articles, and a new contact flow for getting in touch with our Support Team. The center is now clearly divided into student and instructor sections, with a better system for surfacing frequently asked questions and useful information articles. Check it out here!
We realize that many of you have been impacted by some of the bugs that recently cropped up. We first and foremost want to apologize for any inconvenience these have caused you. One reason for the instability is due to an increase in releases in preparation for the Black Friday promotion. Because we expect high traffic during the promotion itself, we’re putting a code freeze in place to prevent any new issues from being introduced during that window (thus there’s been a flurry of activity before the freeze goes into effect). The other reason is our continued migration of our entire codebase to the Python Django framework. As always, we appreciate your patience (and perseverance) during times like these, and we’re working to grow our Product and Engineering teams to have more resources to dedicate to site stability and performance going forward.
Here’s an update on some of the bugs that have been resolved this week:
- Some course announcements not delivered (Resolved on 11/11/15) – Please note that if your announcement was affected by this bug, you will receive an email from our team.
- Course discussion replies appearing in reverse order (Resolved on 11/11/15)
- Some instructors cannot load their November Revenue Reports (Resolved on 11/10/15)
- Lectures not being marked as complete automatically (Resolved on 11/10/15)
- Instructor Dashboard monthly revenue displaying as “FREE” instead of “$0” if instructor has made no revenue (Resolved on 11/10/15)
Instructors in the News
Shout out to Taffy Wagner and her two kids – Cody and Erica – whose Udemy course launch made the local news station! Check out the news clip here. Taffy was contacted by the station for an interview after publishing a press release about the course. If you’re interested in using this strategy to launch your own course, check out our “press kit” for help!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Black Friday Launch Challenge! Whether or not you did all the tasks and met all the deadlines, you’re on your way to publishing a high quality course, and that’s an accomplishment in and of itself.
To meet the final challenge deadline, your course will need to be approved by this Friday, November 13 at 11:59pm PST. We will not be emailing our winners until the following week, once the challenge is completely over and we’ve calculated which courses met the requirements.
Look out for a post in the Udemy Studio announcing our top 10 winners next week too!
