Small-Scale Badging Test Begins
A small segment of students will be seeing badges labeled as “Bestseller” to see if student conversion rates will increase. The badges will be chosen by algorithm based on recent sales of a course with average rating as a consideration. These courses will not be static. If and only if a positive impact on conversion rates are seen will this be launched fully.
Edit & Delete Lectures: Update
A couple weeks back, a new search algorithm was rolled out to 100% of all students, solving the issue where editing and deleting lectures affected search ranking. The warning message has been removed as well, so please feel free to work on your lectures as needed!

The Harvest Time Challenge
In the Studio, people are gearing up for the Harvest Time Challenge! Instructors who take on this challenge will be working towards getting their course published by October 31st, well in time for the upcoming Black Friday sales. We have several folks joining in and posting their work. Some are working with partners, some are working on their own, but one thing is certain: hard work is happening. Courses will be created.
For those who already have a course, what you need to know for Black Friday is that you should 1) have your course submitted and accepted into the Marketplace and 2) be opted into fixed-price deals by November 7th to be included in the big sale. Best of luck!
Public Speaking Tips
In the Lounge, we talked about public speaking. Instructors hopped in with their own advice and made sure to give distinctions between public speaking and recording yourself for a video. Quick tips: Talk loud enough so that the people in the back can hear you if you’re presenting something in front of a live audience. If you’re recording videos, it helps to practice – your “ums” and “ahhs” are less excusable when you’re recording. Excellent advice, instructors – thank you!
