2025 Instructor Kick Off

At Udemy, we’re dedicated to empowering Instructors with innovative tools and solutions in 2025. Read on to discover how our latest initiatives will shape the future of online learning and elevate the capabilities of our community.

1. Helping learners and Instructors achieve their goals with AI

You may be familiar with our Instructor Generative AI (GenAI) Program, which upholds our core principles of respect, responsible AI usage, and shared success across innovative learning tools for learners and Instructors. We are excited that the majority of Instructors opted to join this program for 2025.

We’re also investing in new GenAI features to help learners and businesses develop skills faster than ever, which include:

• More ways to personalize learning paths to address specific skills needs
• Tools to help learners answer course-related questions in real-time
• Easy-to-access data and insights to help Instructors enhance course quality

 Stay tuned for more specific updates throughout the year.

2. Building learning tools for Instructor success

We’re working on some exciting features to help Instructors incorporate experiential hands-on learning into their courses to reinforce skills development and validate learning. This includes making it easier—and more engaging—to assess both soft skills and technical skills. 

We’ve also heard your feedback, and there have already been updates to the Udemy Business Content Opportunities tool to improve functionality. Further enhancements are in progress, and we’ll share more soon.

3. Changes to revenue share and supporting our Instructor community 

The planned adjustment to the Instructor revenue share will take effect on February 5, 2025, setting it at 17.5% for Udemy Business courses. This is a necessary step to support strategic investments that aim to drive future growth and ultimately enhance Instructor revenues over time. 

Meanwhile, Udemy will unlock more ways to support our Instructors: 

• With the AI Assistant, UB Instructor compensation is calculated based on minutes of use and added to overall earnings. 
• A new payment vendor will offer Instructors paid in non-US dollars the option of bank transfers and currency exchange fees ranging from 1-3%. 
• Improved refund policy by limiting refunds through a threshold of course consumption time, providing better earning stability for Instructors.
