Introducing Role Play
Role Play is our new customizable, interactive conversation simulator, designed to help coach learners through scenarios you create and based on the content of your course. So they can practice in a kind of virtual sandbox, before they take your skills IRL.
Here’s a quick demo from Jacob Coulter, our Senior Director of Product Management:
What is Role Play?
Just as we have coding exercises for courses in Development and practice tests for other tech courses, we now have a way to provide interactive learning for communication and soft skills. Role Play is a long-asked-for feature that lets you set up practice conversations using different variables that you set, like personas and goals. When learners practice with a Role Play, they’re navigating their way through conversations that test the skills you’ve taught them. And, they’ll know how well they accomplished the objectives you set.
They can have that tough conversation with a virtual manager or direct report before they have to do it in real life. They can even practice interviewing for the job they want. There are all kinds of Role Play scenarios they can practice — all you have to do is create them.
Role Play is a benefit for you because it can make your course more engaging for leaners. There’s so much potential with Role Play, and we will continue to make improvements as we go.
If you have more questions about how it all works, including latest language availability, find answers in our Role Play FAQ. We also have an in-depth guide to help you craft the best Role Play experiences for learning. Whether you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like reading the instruction manual first, or you need to know everything first, you can get started by selecting an appropriate section in one of your courses, and clicking “Create Role Play.”
Role Play is our latest GenAI innovation, and we really can’t wait to see what you do with it to engage your learners. If you have feedback about Role Play, please let us know in the instructor community.
That’s it from us. Ready to start with Role Play? We’re excited to see what you make.
