Udemy’s Instructor GenAI Program: Innovating Responsibly

Our recently launched Instructor Generative AI (GenAI) Program exemplifies this commitment, designed to drive value for both Udemy and its instructors in the evolving landscape of online learning.

Empowering Our Instructors in the GenAI Era

GenAI-enabled features have immense potential to benefit both Udemy learners and our instructors by expanding opportunities for course discovery, learner engagement, and increased productivity. Key features like our AI Assistant and AI-powered Skills Mapping create more personalized, dynamic learning experiences for thousands of instructors and millions of learners worldwide.

As we move forward, we wanted to share an update on the progress we’ve made so far. We’re pleased to share that the vast majority of instructors are now participating in Udemy’s GenAI program. We are excited about GenAI’s possibilities and we also recognize the importance of transparency in our processes.

As we’ve communicated in our GenAI Principles and GenAI Program posts and via the AI policy that instructors had the chance to review over the summer, we aimed to make sure instructors knew and understood what was happening, and had time to take action if they so choose in their medium of choice (blog posts, community posts, in-product notifications, live events, info sessions, emails) ahead of the official, three-week participation window which ran from August 21-September 12. We’ve also provided recordings of the live product demos, regularly updated FAQs, and posted ongoing community support to help instructors understand the participation process and potential benefits of the program.
